Peer review policy

Article Evaluation Process

Articles sent to EUCHEMBIOJ first go through a preliminary review process. Those that pass the preliminary review are then sent to expert referees for a double-blind peer-review process. Articles that are decided to be published are taken to the editing and layout stages. Articles with completed layouts are sent back to the author for final checks. If necessary, final corrections are made and published. Depending on the journal's publication period, articles may be published as early appearances (Online first).

 Preliminary review

Articles and all documents (manuscript, cover letter, title page) sent to the journal are subject to preliminary review. In case of missing documents, the author is requested to send them. During the preliminary review stage, articles are evaluated in terms of their compliance with EUCHEMBIOJ's publication policies. Only original articles are taken into the peer-review process by conducting similarity checks with plagiarism programs (Turnitin, iThenticate). Articles with more than 20 percent similarity are rejected by the editor. Subsequently, articles deemed appropriate are evaluated formally and those that do not comply with the journal's spelling rules are returned to the author for the necessary corrections to be made. Articles found not to comply with the publication policies may be rejected by the editor at this stage.

Peer review

The article, which has completed the preliminary review process, is sent to the field editor. The article is checked for author information (name, institution, etc.) and concealed if necessary. For the double-blind peer review process, the field editor sends the article to at least two external referees. Academic objectivity and scientific quality are taken as the basis in the evaluation. The institution and name information of the referees are kept confidential. A period of 15 days is given for the scientific review of the articles sent to the referees. An extension may be granted if additional time is needed.

The opinions and criticisms received from the referees are forwarded to the relevant author. The author must correct his/her article according to the referee criticisms within 14 days and send the file containing his/her responses to the criticisms to our journal together with the corrected article. If the author disagrees with the criticisms, the reasons should be explained in the response file to the criticisms. If deemed necessary, the corrected article and the response file can be sent to the referees again. An article sent to EUCHEMBIOJ is accepted if at least two referees give a positive opinion. In cases where one referee accepts and one referee rejects the referee process, the article is sent to a third referee. The EUCHEMBIOJ editorial board makes decisions by considering the criticisms and corrections of the author regarding the article. The final decision regarding the article evaluation process is made by the Editor-in-Chief.

Proofreading and layout

Articles accepted for publication proceed to the language control stage. At this stage, grammatical errors and spelling mistakes, if any, are corrected by the experts on duty. Articles that have completed all correction processes are evaluated by the editorial board. The layout of the articles decided to be published is completed and sent back to the author for final control. The author is expected to complete the final control within 3 days. If there are any, corrections are made again and published in the journal after the final reading process.
